Babies A and B
Home Up Week By Week 1-6 Week By Week 7-12

Wendy gave birth (breech) to Baby A at 8:01am August 3, 2000.  Baby B followed (feet first) at 8:05.  From the buzz at the hospital, apparently breech deliveries are just not done any more, let alone with a twin birth, which almost always ends in a C-Section these days. However, Wendy can be quite determined and she had a pretty cool OB.

At this point, they were still Baby A and Baby B (where Baby A is the first baby born). Wendy does not even begin the naming process until after she gets a chance to meet the new people. This, of course, drives the hospital people nuts, because they have no clue how to fill out the paperwork.  Babies A and B almost left the hospital without names.

Baby A was 6 lbs. 8 oz. A respectable weight for a twin. Baby B was a bit on the wee side at 5 lbs. 1 oz.  The nurse had to round up to get the one ounce. Baby B spent the first night under a warmer with a dextrose IV in her hand to keep up her blood sugar.

If it were not for the pediatrician, who took her sweet time showing up on Saturday, Baby A and Baby B might still be named A and B.  It went down to the wire, but Babies A and B got names just before leaving the hospital.

Alice Ruth (A)

Grace Isabel (B)

We did find out that Alice and Grace have different blood types. This means they are fraternal, not identical.  But since all babies look the same, we get them confused, a lot. We are considering tattooing their names above their hair line to help us keep them straight.  They will never know we did it, once their real hair grows in.

We have started a Week by Week pictorial growth chart.  Each page covers about 6 weeks and takes a minute or two to load.  It should be interesting to see how long we can keep this going.

As if you are not bored enough by these slides, friends and family can see more in the private section.
