Class ProjectsI'm currently (Feb '06) taking a class with Quilt University (http://www.quiltuniversity.com ) called Self Expressions with Myrna Giesbrecht. The first assignment was to create a small piece using something we loved, to get over our fear of failure. Here is my finished piece, approx. 9"x14". And some close-ups. This is my first time to embellish a quilt with beads.
Hello Kitty HalloweenThe ultimate in scary wallhangings!
Houses QuiltMy best friend and I had an idea to do a pair of quilts together. We decided on a house theme, picked out fabrics together - this wasn't easy because we live in different states! Then, we made blocks to exchange. We each made one house block and one tree block. I had an idea for a wall hanging, but couldn't get it to work out. Meanwhile, the deadline for finishing came and went.... Finally, I woke up one morning with a great idea (unlike most of the other ideas I come up with at that hour) and set to work. Two days of sewing later, and this is the result:
It still needs to be quilted, but the backing is picked out - it will be the focus fabric we chose together. I'm so excited with the results, and I think my friend is, too! Christmas StockingsThis is a cowboy boot stocking I made for my son this year. I found the pattern at www.familyfun.com . The pattern looked really huge when I printed it out, but it turned out to be a good size, after it was quilted and had a lining put in. I used Warm & Natural batting, and Star thread for the quilting.
Picnic QuiltFor years I wanted a picnic quilt. I even bought the fabric for it several years ago. I finally got around to making it this summer (2003). It uses the traditional Shoo Fly block, and some really cute fabrics called Just Desserts. The backing is a fabulous fish print, African fabric I found.
